Day two. Autumn 1973. Alexandria of Egypt. Hassan is in the city to meet Nadia, Nura’s daughter, at the deathbed of her twin brother. From what the children say, Hassan is led to believe he is Nadia’s father. Day three. Autumn 2001, Cairo. Hassan is in the city to meet AlÃ¬, Nadia’s son. They begin seeing one another and Hassan observes numerous similarities with the boy.
Plot : The film begins in the 1920′s, in the Sicilian town of Bagheria (a.k.a. Baaria) where Giuseppe “Peppino” Torrenuova works as a shepherd to financially help his poor family. Over the next 50 years Giuseppe’s life, as well as the life of the village, is observed. Giuseppe grows up, joins the Communist Party, marries a local girl (Mannina), has children and forges a political career for himself.

Plot : Sonia comes from Ljubjiana and works as a waitress. Guido is an ex policeman and works as a guardian at a villa. They meet on a speed date. Heâ€™s a regular client. But itâ€™s the first time for her, and itâ€™s obvious. They donâ€™t say much, the attraction is instinctive.
They get to know each other in a matter of days, and show each other their wounds. Theyâ€™re on the point of falling in loveâ€¦ when Guido dies. Unexpectedly, during a break-in at the villa heâ€™s supposed to be guarding.
Sonia finds herself alone once again, coping with a death for which she can find no sense. And for which some people even hold her responsible. While Soniaâ€™s past comes back to her, with all its unresolved knots, the reality around her starts to break down, burying her.

Amid life in that turbulent era, friendship, passion, high-minded ideals and dignity are all put on trial in the courtroom of human desire.
LIFE DURING WARTIME (2009)
Plot : Separated from her incarcerated husband Bill (Hinds), Trish (Janney) is about to be married again. Bill is a pedophile, so Trish couldn’t be more excited to have Harvey (Lerner), a “normal” father figure for her two sons. But when Bill is released from prison and the boys finally meet their future stepdad, the family is forced to decide whether to forgive or to forget. Trish’s sister, the virginal, angelic Joy (Henderson), is also haunted by ghosts of lovers past. On leave from her degenerate husband, Allen (Williams), and her job at a New Jersey correctional facility, Joy unwittingly leaves behind a trail of shame and exposed secrets wherever she goes. In one of the film’s most stylized sequences, the image of Joy walking the dark streets of Miami in her nightgown maintains her innocence against a backdrop of self-affliction and desire.

Plot : A woman searching for a miracle seemingly finds one â€” but what comes next? Christine (Sylvie Testud) has spent most of her life confined to a wheelchair, unable to use her arms and legs, and while she has a keen mind and the means to seek treatment, she looks for a solution to her condition in faith as well as medical science. Christine has made a pilgrimage to Lourdes, the village in Southwestern France where a celebrated miracle is said to have occurred, and she checks into an upscale clinic where a young nurse named Maria (LÃ©a Seydoux) is assigned to look after her. Christine imagines that she and Maria are becoming fast friends, but the nurse prefers to spend her time with her co-workers rather than her patients, and she often flirts with Kuno (Bruno Todeschini), a handsome man who also works at the clinic. Christine finds herself having several conversations with Mme. Hartl (Gilette Barbier), who has a powerful belief in the healing powers of the waters of Lourdes, and after several days of treatment, Christine is amazed to find that sheâ€™s regained the full use of her arms and legs. But once sheâ€™s experienced the miracle she hoped for, Christineâ€™s interest is less in thanking the Lord and more in pursuing Kuno.
MR. NOBODY (2009)
Plot : In the year 2092, one hundred eighteen year old Nemo is recounting his life story to a reporter. He is less than clear, often times thinking that he is only thirty-four years of age. But his story becomes more confusing after he does focus on the fact of his current real age. He tells of his life at three primary points in his life: at age nine (when his parents divorced), age sixteen and age thirty-four. The confusing aspect of the story is that he tells of alternate life paths, often changing course with the flick of a decision at each of those ages. One life path has him ultimately married to Elise, a depressed woman who never got over the unrequited love she had for a guy named Stefano when she was a teenager and who asked Nemo to swear that when she died he would sprinkle her ashes on Mars. A second life path has him married to Jean. Their life is one of luxury but one also of utter boredom.
MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE (2009)
Plot : Inspired by true events, My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done, is a story of ancient myth and modern madness. Brad Macallam, an aspiring actor performing in a Greek tragedy, commits the crime he is to enact in the play by killing his mother. The mystery unfolds in a series of flashbacks displaying the psychological destruction of the killer set off by an ill-fated white-water kayaking trip in a distant land.
Plot : The solitary Daniel and Sonia share an uneasy love/hate relationship. Daniel’s life is disrupted by the appearance of a stranger that proceeds to insinuate himself in his life. The man’s persistence takes its toll on Daniel and Sonia, leaving Daniel alone with nagging questions of “Why?”.
SOUL KITCHEN (2009)
Plot : Soul Kitchen film centers on a likable but hopelessly disorganized restauranteur, Zinos (co-screenwriter Adam Bousdoukos) whose cafe is second home to a motley crew of lovable eccentrics. When his girlfriend Nadine up and moves to Shanghai, a love-sick Zinos decides to fly after her, leaving his restaurant in the hands of his unreliable ex-con brother Illias. Both decisions turn out disastrous: Illias gambles away the restaurant to a shady real estate agent, and Zinos finds Nadine with a new lover. If the brothers can stop arguing and get it together, the Soul Kitchen might still have one last chance at staying in business. The mayhem that follows is a hilariously entertaining story of self-realization, set to an irresistibly soulful soundtrack.
SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD (2009)
Plot : In the Plum Island, off the coast of Delaware, the long feud between the families of the patriarchs Captain Patrick O’Flynn (Kenneth Welsh) that intends to eliminate the zombies and Seamus Muldoon (Richard Fitzpatrick) that intends to keep his undead relatives waiting for a cure culminates with O’Flynn expelled from Plum. Meanwhile in the continent Sarge “Nicotine” Crocket (Alan Van Sprang), Chuck (Joris Jarsky), Cisco (Stefano DiMatteo) and Tomboy (Athena Karkanis) are plundering and seeking a safe place to stay. When they rescue the young Boy (Devon Bostick) from group of sadistic hunters, Boy decides to join the group and suggests them to head to Plum Island since he had heard a O’Flynn’s broadcast inviting people to move to the island. When Sarge and his team arrive in the island, they are attacked by Muldoon’s men and they see that the place is crowded of undead. Sarge’s friend Chuck is killed and they decide to fight against Muldoon.
TETSUO: THE BULLET MAN (2009)
Plot : Anthony, a young man who was born and raised in Tokyo and is now raising a family there. What should be a happy time in Anthony’s life is not: his wife is crippled by anxiety and unable to leave the house. She also has recurring nightmares about a horrible fate awaiting the pair’s young son, Tom. Those nightmares turn out to be prophetic when Tom is cruelly run down in the street. Losing their boy pushes Yuriko over the edge and triggers violent emotions in Anthony, whose body begins to transform. Anthony flies into a terrible rage, and soon discovers that the power of his emotion transforms him into a strange, metallic monster. When the driver who killed Tom reappears and Anthony learns the truth about his father’s past experiments on human guinea pigs and about his mother’s death, Anthony mutates into a mass of metal – a human weapon fueled by an uncontrollable rage. This delights the mysterious man who ran down Anthony’s son, a man who now continually taunts Anthony from a distance.
THE ROAD (2009)
Plot : A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind and water. It is cold enough to crack stones, and, when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the warmer south, although they don’t know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing: just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless cannibalistic bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a rusting shopping cart of scavenged food–and each other.
WHITE MATERIAL (2009)
Plot : Denis revisits Africa, this time exploring a place rife with civil and racial conflict. A white French family outlawed in its home and attempting to save its coffee plantation connects with a black hero also embroiled in the tumult. All try to survive as their world rapidly crumbles around them.
YI NGOI (2009)
Plot : A self-styled â€œaccident choreographer,â€ the Brain is a professional hitman who kills his victims by trapping them in well crafted â€œaccidentsâ€ that look like unfortunate mishaps but are in fact perfectly staged acts of crime. Perennially plagued with guilt, he is also suspicious and morbid by nature. The recent avalanche of memories of his lost wife does not make things any easier. After one mission accidentally goes wrong, causing the life of one of his men, the Brain is convinced that this accident has been choreographed: someone is out there plotting to terminate him and his team. He becomes increasingly paranoid, walking on the thin line between reality and delusion. When he is accosted by a mysterious insurance agent Fong who happened to be on the scene of the â€œaccidentâ€ as well, the Brain becomes obsessed that this man must be the mastermind behind a conspiracy to take him out. To regain his sanity and to safe his life, he must strive to kill Fong before he makes his next move.
