The 48th Annual Golden Horse Awards which will takes place on 26th November 2011 will see a fierce competition in its Best Picture category. The official nominees for the annual awards was announced by The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival earlier this month. The Golden Horse Awards are given to Chinese-language films from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Malaysia.

Taiwanese Film Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale which sparks a controversy at the recent 2011 Venice Film Festival will competes against China’s blockbuster Let the Bullets Fly, Hong Kong’s Best Foreign Language Film submission’s A Simple Life, The Piano in a Factory and Return Ticket for the top honor.

This year award was dominated by Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale with 11 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best New Performer, Best Supporting Actor, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Original Film Score, Best Original Film Song, Best Action Choreography, Best Makeup & Costume Design, and Best Sound Effects. Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale was Taiwan’s submission to the Academy for Best Foreign Language Film.
Best Documentary Awards will go between The Man Behind the Book, Hometown Boy or Young at Heart: Grandma Cheerleaders
