The 25th Festival Filem Malaysia (FFM) full nominees and winners. The ceremony was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on 2 March 2013 and was hosted by Fahrin Ahmad and Erra Fazira.

Communication, Information and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim and his wife Datin Seri Masnah were the special guests of the evening which saw stars of stage and silver screen dressed to the nines.

Of the 14 main awards and five Special Awards, the most coveted was Best Film of the Year which went to Bunohan which swept eight awards.

Synopsis:
Ayu and Malik, two sibblings is going through their darkest moments of life when their beloved mother just passed away. Malik feels so depressed believing he was the main cause of his mother’s death. During one of the evenings after a fight with his sister, Malik left to take a stroll in the forest. On and on he went until he realised he was lost and the next very moment, he appeared in another dimension called Magika.
Not only had he gotten himself lost, he was captured by a Nenek Kebayan and her follower, Awang Kenit. He is now subjected to be used as an experiment by the Nenek Kebayan to produce Essence of Youth made of human child’s tears. Upon hearing Malik’s cries for help, Ayu rushed to help her brother and she too is sucked in the Magika mystical land.
Ayu had to endure various types of challenges and obstacles in finding and to save her brother in her journey in the Magika world. And so begins the encounters of both the siblings with famous Malay heroes and myths like Badang, Dragon of Tasik Chini, Nenek Kebayan, Puteri Bunian, Pak Pandir, Hang Tuah and the Warriors of Melaka, Puteri Gunung Ledang, Bawang Putih and a lot more characters. The irony of it, all these characters actually sing in their conversation with each other!
Will Ayu be able to rescue Malik and leave the mystical land of Magika? What happens to Badang, Nenek Kebayan and other characters in Magika? Will Malik be able to overcome his dilemma over his mother’s death? Come and watch Magika the movie which is destined to be a phenomenal in the local filming industry while already setting a record to be the first local musical movie and it will be reaching our cinemas in 2010.

The opening night for the 23rd Malaysia Film Festival took place in the Atrium Centre e@Curve, Damansara, Petaling Jaya. Ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, Hon. Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz.

According to National Film Development Corporation (Finas) director-general Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim, the big night and the winners announcement will take place at the Shah Alam Convention Centre on Oct 24, and will be broadcast live on TV1 at 8.30pm and Astro Prima at 8pm.

We know are a bit late on this, but lets recapture the nominees for both Best Animation and Best Short Film categories for this year Malaysia Film Fest.

Synopsis :

Tells the story of Corporal Risya’s team whose being ambushed by a group of mutants. Corporal Risya had received a call from headquarters ordered the operations to be discontinued, and all members are asked to retreat and special squad will be sent for the rescue, but before them arrived there, Risya was once again being ambushed by these mutants. After successfully defeat the creature, Corporal Risya’s rescue team rushed to the point, but what can be seen, the whole town was attacked by a large scale movement of the creature, is this a sign to end the human species?

Projek Genex berkisah tentang Koperal Risya yang tersedar dari pengsan setelah seluruh pasukannya diserang hendap oleh sekumpulan makhluk mutasi. Koperal Risya telah menerima panggilan dari markas yang mengatakan semua operasi terpaksa dihentikan dan semua ahli sekuad khas diminta berundur dan Koperal Risya perlu pergi ke Rescue Point untuk operasi menyelamat tetapi sebelum sampai ke tempat tersebut dia sekali lagi diserang hendap oleh makhluk mutasi tersebut. Setelah berjaya mengalahkan makhluk itu, Koperal Risya bergegas ke Rescue Point namun apa yang dapat dilihat, seluruh kota telah diserang besar besaran oleh makhluk mutasi itu, adakah ini petanda kepada penghujungnya spesis manusia?

Cerita santai untuk seisi keluarga, mengisahkan gelagat’ Srok’ (Orang Asli) ketika memburu di tengah belantara hutan, kejadian huru hara tercetus apabila srok telah menyumpit tepat mengenai jin hutan yang sedang membuang air besar di dalam semak apabila srok menyangkakan binatang buruan, jin hutan mengamuk dan mengejar srok sehingga tak cukup tanah, adakah jin hutan itu berjaya menangkap srok? Animasi yang berdasarkan watak ciptaan Kartunis Ujang dari majalah Gila-Gila ini mengisahkan kejadian lucu apabila Atuk membawa cucunya ke pekan. Cucu yang ternampak mesin permainan bergerak meminta Atuknya mengeluarkan duit syiling untuk menggunakan mesin tersebut. Namun, apabila Atuk kehabisan duit syiling, apakah yang akan dilakukannya untuk memenuhi kehendak cucunya itu?

Deals with the antics of Matt and Jo, an eight years old boys, performing fasting in the month of Ramadan. They are no more allowed to fast for half of the day, as the previous years, and must learn to wake-up for the sahur. Also show a characters of their neighbors from Malays, Chinese and Indians ethics in dealing with the month of Ramadhan.

Mengisahkan telatah Mat dan Jo yang berumur lapan tahun melakukan ibadah puasa di bulan Ramadan. Mereka tidak dibenarkan berpuasa separuh hari seperti tahun yang sudah dan belajar bangun bersahur seperti umat Islam yang lain.Memaparkan juga pelbagai gelagat warga kampung yang terdiri daripada kaum Melayu, Cina dan India di pelbagai lapisan umur apabila menyambut Ramadan.Diselitkan juga kisah masyarakat Arab zaman dahulu tentang bulan puasa ini. Synopsis:

This film tells the story of an angry insects. They are angry with the mosquito, whom they think they are the cause of their dizziness from the mosquito repellent spray. Although several ways to fight mosquitoes, the insects have no success. However, they finally succeeded, when the host uses electric mosquito repellent.

Tuan rumah selalu menyembur gas pembunuh nyamuk, ini membuatkan haiwan- haiwan yang lain merasa pening dengan kesan gas semburan. Ini menambahkan lagi kebencian mereka ke atas nyamuk.Sesuatu yang menggemparkan telah berlaku di mana nyamuk telah mengamuk. Jumlah nyamuk yang banyak telah membuatkan mereka menjadi berani menganggu haiwan-haiwan lain. Mereka memutuskan untuk menghapuskan nyamuk. Mereka bersama-sama berganding bahu berusaha menghapuskan tempat pembiakan nyamuk.Banyak halangan telah dibuat oleh nyamuk berserta serangan-serangan hendap yang sukar untuk ditangkis. Usaha mereka menampakkan kejayaan namun nyamuk-nyamuk matang tetap banyak. Mereka akhirnya berjaya apabila penghuni rumah itu tiba-tiba memasang ubat nyamuk elektrik.

Buas berkisarkan mengenai dendam dan cinta. Apabila seorang penoreh getah tua diberi peluang kedua untuk membalas dendam ke atas kematian isterinya, memori silam tragedi tersebut kembali menghantui fikirannya.

Day and night, rain and sunny, Mr Teddy continues to work hard. As a corporate employee, he is proud of his career, he has succeeded in life through hard work and diligence. From the moment he woke up in early morning to the time he is going sleep late at night, Mr Teddy was just amazing. Does he?

Tidak kira siang atau malam, hujan atau cerah, Encik Teddy terus tekun bekerja. Sebagai seorang pekerja korporat yang bangga dengan kerjayanya, beliau telah berjaya di dalam kehidupannya melalui kerja keras dan usaha yang gigih. Lihat sahajalah kehidupan beliau, daripada saat beliau bangun tidur di awal pagi sehingga beliau melelapkan matanya pada lewat malam. Encik Teddy sangat mengagumkan… atau sebaliknya?

 

ABOUT 23RD MALAYSIA FILM FESTIVAL 2010

The 23rd Malaysian Film Festival is the pinnacle event in Malaysian Film Industry. This year’s festival is the 23rd in the Malaysian Film Festival series. Striving towards the festival celebration this year, Shah Alam Convention Centre, Shah Alam will be the venue for this event.

The festival is aspired to commemorate the success of people in the filming industries and inspire efforts in elevating the nation’s filming industries eminence along with the ambition of promoting the careers in the filming discipline as an admirable preference for the young scholarly generations and artists, who are more creative and full of determinations.

The 23rd Malaysian Film Festival strives to honour artists and the selected most excellent film work to inculcate the development of Malaysian filming industries, alongside the continuous effort in promoting society quintessence in films and to promote local films to international echelon.

The theme for the 23rd Malaysian Film Festival is ‘MALAYSIAN FILMS TO THE WORLD’. The theme is intended to convey awareness of the people of the filming industries to focus towards improving their skills in producing their handiwork, so that the future end products will gain the international level productions and recognitions.
