HACHIKO : A DOG’S STORY (2009)

The movie good?:

Based on a true story always make a good film. Earlier, I am a bit worried and reluctant to see this film because of it’s title. As I don’t want ended up watching some talking dog and stupid joke in the screen, I do some research on the net and I found out it was based on a real life story. And I can tell you it’s not just a good movie. It is a must-see.

Tell me, is it worth watching?:

I’ve read a lots of good reviews about this movie. A lots of them said that they are cried throughout the end of the movie. So I expect that I too will cry but that didn’t happen. Even though I didn’t shed a tear but this movie really touched me. This movie, teaches us first of all about love, there is no power bigger than love, nothing compares to this strong feeling. I don’t want to give a spoiler here so please go watch this movie or buy the DVD or anything. If you already see the film I recommend you to see MY DOG SKIP (2000). This is one of my all time favorite. Also based on true story.

What is it about actually?, ‘cos I don’t want ended up sleeping!!:

Hachiko: A Dog’s Story is a 2009 American drama film based on the true story of the faithful canine, Akita Hachiko. It is a moving film about loyalty and the rare, invincible bonds that occasionally form almost instantaneously in the most unlikely places. This very special friend would accompany his master to the train station every day and return each afternoon to greet him after work. Sadly his master departs one day, passes away and never returns to the station. Hachiko faithfully returns to the same spot at the station the very next day, and every day for the next nine years to wait for his beloved master. During his daily visits, Hachiko touches the lives of many who work near and commute through the town square. He teaches the local people love, compassion and above all unyielding loyalty. Today, a bronze statue of Hachiko sits in his waiting spot outside the Shibuya station in Japan as a permanent reminder of his devotion and love.

RED (2010)

The movie good?:

A few weeks ago there’s The Expandables, now again we have RED with senior citizens as the main casts. Overall this is very much the film you would expect it’s going to be. Great action. A lots of shooting. Gun blazing. And yeah there’s a plenty of funny jokes especially from John Malkovich. It’s a good movie in terms of entertaining value and could be a good selection if you want an action-comedy treat.

Tell me, is it worth watching?:

It’s fun and it’s worth to watch till the end. However don’t expect a good plot and mind you there’s not much of a script here, so all the cast’s personalities have to carry the story and luckily they have pull it off especially from Malkovich. John Malkovich steals the show with maybe the performance of his career. Every time he came on screen the whole theater would be dying with laughter. Having said that, I feel slightly cheated about Helen Mirren, cos you know, they promote the film like it’s all about Helen Mirren – I remember read somewhere when they say that Mirren was like a real CIA agent in this film, only to find that she doesn’t even show up until the second act and then only assists through the end. It’s not the best film ever made, the story could have been a little tighter, but I can promise you’ll have a lot of fun and you will be laughing your ass off through most of it.

Based on the cult D.C. Comics graphic novels by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, RED is an action-comedy starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren.
Frank (Bruce Willis), Joe (Morgan Freeman), Marvin (John Malkovich) and Victoria (Helen Mirren) used to be the CIAs top agents but the secrets they know just made them the Agencys top targets. Now framed for assassination, they must use all of their collective cunning, experience and teamwork to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers and stay alive. To stop the operation, the team embarks on an impossible, cross-country mission to break into the top-secret CIA headquarters, where they will uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history.
